ART TO PRINT -
ORIGINAL ARTWORK AND AFFORDABLE FINE ART GICLEE PRINTS

I'm Jennifer Braithwaite, an artist, designer & art educator based in ÅŒhinehou, Lyttelton, New Zealand. I invite you to explore the art of collecting items from nature & symbolic artefacts as I aim to decipher the language of objects in painted form. With my artistic style, I aim to convey the beauty & mystery of the natural world through my paintings. My recent paintings explore a profound fascination with the language of natural objects and historical relics. The act of collecting has captivated me so much so that it is ingrained within the depths of my being. To me, it is a way of unearthing beauty and preserving memories of time and place. My work revolves around the objects that I personally gather—fragments of nature, antiquities, fossils and other precious taonga of times past. Within this act of collection and depiction, lies a search for identity and meaning, shaping my own visual language and deepening my understanding of the world through artifacts. In my exploration, I draw inspiration from my own British heritage and the Victorian era, a time when flowers and objects were infused with symbolic meaning in Art. I seek to document, archive, and capture the essence of these objects, akin to memento mori, to immortalize the fleeting moments of life. Through my art making practice, I aspire to create a sense of connection and resonance, inviting you as a viewer to contemplate the significance of the natural world and the stories woven within fragments of our own existence.
