Pōhue - {Clematis Foetida} is an open edition, fine art reproduction print of an original watercolour painting by Jennifer Braithwaite.
- Full range of standard print sizes are available and range from $220 to $350 NZD for x1 unframed print.
PLANT INFO:
The Pōhue is a native Clematis to New Zealand. Evergreen woody climber with main stems to about 6m tall. New Zealand's clematis are special because they are dioecious. This means that they have separate female and male plants with different flowers. Only about 5% of plants are dioecious and the special Clematis has the advantage of self-pollination.
SPIRITUAL SIGNIFICANCE: Aspiration, Wisdom, and Balance
I have heard that Maori call them puawhananga, meaning ‘flower of the skies’ or ‘spirit flower’ – a reference to the idea that the flowers came from the stars.
