'Harakeke (winter study) {Phormium tenax} ' is an open edition, fine art reproduction print of an original watercolour painting by Jennifer Braithwaite.

- Full range of standard print sizes are available and range from $220 to $350 NZD for x1 unframed print.

PLANT INFO: The tall sword-like leaves  and protruding flower spears stand proudly in our landscape and can be found growing throughout New Zealand, especially in wet areas. It is a constant in our landscape and its beauty changes with the seasons.  Although it is more commonly called flax, harakeke is in actual fact a lily.

SPIRITUAL SIGNIFICANCE: The harakeke (flax) plant represents the whānau (family) in Māori thought. The rito (shoot) is the child. It is protectively surrounded by the awhi rito (parents). The outside leaves represent the tūpuna (grandparents and ancestors).
